The Nightmare
The past month has been a bit of a nightmare. Probably why I have been posting less.It all started one weekend when Hubby was away on a scout camp. The dishwasher had been playing up and I was washing the dishes by hand when I noticed that the hot water was a little less than hot. I took a wander outside to the fuse box and the Hot Water Service was turned off. I just thought it was kids messing around, unfortunately it wasn’t.
Anyway, I flipped the switch back on and the heater worked fine for the next week or so. After that it started switching itself off in the middle of the night, before it had fully reheated. Morning showers were getting colder and colder. I called out a sparky to check it out and was told it was time for a new water heater. *cringe*
I spent the day, about two weeks ago, pricing heat pump and solar electric hot water. Even with Government Rebates both are very pricey. Hubby suggested we check out instant gas, and to cut a long story short (by two weeks or so) we finally have hot showers again.
This entire saga had me totally worn out! I felt like I spent the entire month on the phone and waiting for quotes. On the plus side the dishwasher is now behaving (under supervision).
This cheered me up the other day. Amazing what you find right under your nose!
